The 2024 Made by Google event is around the corner. We expect the search giant to unveil the highly anticipated Pixel 9 series, wearables, the Pixel foldable, Android 15, and more. When is the Made by Google August 2024 event?

Traditionally, Google holds its Made by Google event in October, around a month after Apple’s iPhone launch in September. However, this time, the search giant has advanced its annual event by a couple of months to August.

How to watch the Made by Google 2024 event

The 2024 Made by Google event will take place in person at the company HQ in Mountain View, California. If you don’t have an invite, Google will livestream the event, and record it for you to watch later. What can you expect from the Made by Google August 2024 event?

Google released several teaser videos to showcase the exterior of the Pixel 9 series (more on that later). On top of that, there’s no shortage of leaks, rumors, speculations, and hands-on reviews.

Looking at the marketing materials (the ones shared by Google), we expect the event to focus on Gemini and its AI capabilities on Pixel phones and wearables. Let’s go over the products that will take center stage at the Made by Google event.

Google Pixel 9

Let’s start the list with the vanilla Pixel 9. While it will feature the same Tensor G4 CPU, 50 MP primary shooter, and a 48MP ultrawide camera as the Pro models, the Pixel 9 may skip a telephoto lens, settle with less RAM (12GB vs. 16GB on Pro models), a low-resolution front camera, and a standard Actua display to keep the prices in check. It is expected to come in Obsidian, Porcelain, Hazel, and Rose.

Google Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL

The Google Pixel 9 Pro is the newest entrant in the Pixel family. It rocks a 6.3-inch display, the perfect option for anyone looking for a compact Pixel without compromising on camera and display.

Looking at the leaks, it should pack 16GB RAM, up to 512GB storage, a redesigned (and a thicker) triple-camera system on the back with a 48MP telephoto lens, ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, Tensor G4 SoC, and a 42MP selfie shooter.

The Pixel 9 Pro XL is a successor to last year’s Pixel 8 Pro. The XL moniker suggests that it will sport a larger screen (6.5 inches) and bigger battery than the Pixel 9 Pro, and the remaining specs sheet should be the same. The color options for both of the Pro models should be the same as discussed above.

Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold

The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be the star of the show at the 2024 Made by Google event. While it’s a successor to the original Pixel Fold, Google changed the naming scheme to make it part of the Pixel 9 family. It is expected to bring a taller, thinner, and lighter design, along with a redesigned camera module, slim bezels, an improved hinge, and a trimmed fold crease.

With the Android 15 launch, we will also find out if there are any improvements to the multitasking experience on foldables.

Google Pixel Watch 3

Following its yearly cycle, Google is set to debut the Pixel Watch 3 series on August 13. For the first time, it will arrive in two sizes: 41mm and 45mm. While the overall appearance is the same with a domed glass, the larger model is expected to be thicker with slimmer bezels around the display. We can expect improvements in battery life, connectivity (due to UWB), display brightness, CPU power, and more with WearOS 5 onboard.

Google Pixel Buds Pro 2

It’s been a couple of years since Google announced the Pixel Buds Pro, a premium variant of the Pixel Buds with additional features. The search giant is set to refresh it with new colors: Aloe (green), Charcoal, Hot Pink, and Porcelain. It will also have a redesigned grille and a larger case. As for new AI features or other add-ons, we’ll have to wait and see.

Android 15 and Gemini AI

Google will officially roll out Android 15 to eligible devices on August 13. It offers several features, such as Private Space, Theft Detection Lock, a slew of security features to protect user data, and more.

Following in the footsteps of Galaxy AI and Apple Intelligence, the search giant can also bundle Gemini AI features under “Google AI.” Some rumored features are Circle to Search, Add Me (to add different faces in group photos), Pixel Screenshots, and more.

Google TV Streamer

Google can also introduce a new TV streamer to refresh the Chromecast lineup. It can bring 4K streaming, smart home controls, a new pill-shaped design, and more. The remote control can also receive a nice upgrade with a gesture pad and quick access to popular streaming services like Netflix and Disney+.
