The news is finally out that Amazon’s annual Prime Day sales event is going to take place on July 16 and 17. And while we’re pretty excited to see what kinds of deals might unfold for some of the best smartphones, earbuds and headphones, we’re especially excited to see what kinds of discounts might arrive for some of our favorite smartwatches and fitness trackers.

Prime Day 2024: Deals, dates, and everything you need to know

Time’s running out to get your next best gadget

When it comes to wearables, not a lot has changed since last year’s Amazon Prime Day event. Sure, there are some new entries here and there, but the bulk of the products out right now were also out last year as well. What does that mean for us? Well, it means that we can take an early look at products from the likes of Samsung, Garmin, Google and more, to see whether it’s a good idea to just purchase something now, or wait for the event instead. With that said, let’s dive right in.

Best Samsung Galaxy smartwatch deals

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro front-facing in black

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro

$263 $450 Save $187

For the most part, these are some of the best prices we’ve seen on Samsung’s Galaxy Watches, with heavy discounts on the brand’s latest models, like the Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic. And while you could go with some of the brand’s older models that are still supported, like the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 4, we couldn’t find them on Amazon from reputable sellers, so for now, we have omitted them from the list. If you’ve been thinking about buying a new Galaxy Watch, the time is probably right. While there could be better discounts from Amazon during Prime Day, we don’t think that these wearables will get any cheaper than what we’re seeing now.

Best Google Pixel Watch deals

Google Pixel Watch

$180 $350 Save $170

As of now, the only Pixel Watch deal we’re seeing is for the original, which comes in at one of its lowest prices to date at just $180. So, if you want an affordable Pixel Watch option, we think it’s a good time to buy. However, those that are waiting for a chance to grab a Pixel Watch 2 for cheap will want to wait until Prime Day. Right now, we aren’t seeing any deals on this device, but it has been discounted in the past, so the chances are pretty good that we’ll see some discounts leading up to or during the actual sales event.

Mobvoi might not be the first thing that comes to your mind when it comes to Wear OS wearables. But the brand has been around for some time, making solid products that are worth your attention if you’re looking for something a little different. When it comes to options, you’re going to get a few, with the TicWatch Pro 5, Pro 3, and E3. As prices go, we’ve seen deep discounts on Mobvoi products before, but these are some of the lowest prices we’ve ever seen for these devices. So if you’ve been thinking about buying one, now’s going to be a great time to buy.

Garmin Instinct 2

Garmin is the brand you want to go with if you’re looking for a smartwatch that can track all your health and fitness metrics. The brand has been around for some time and has built a reputation around its watches, which provide excellent tracking features, along with fantastic battery life and great durability. When it comes to discounts, Garmin smartwatches aren’t always on sale, but when they are, we’re usually seeing some pretty steep discounts on some of its top-end models. From what we’re seeing now, the discounts are actually pretty good, so while it is a good time to buy, we think it won’t do any harm by waiting for Amazon’s Prime Day sale just to see if the prices can dip even further.

Fitbit offers some of the best fitness trackers on the market, so if you want something simple that’s going to be able to keep track of all your health and fitness metrics, then these are the devices to go with. It’s not often that we see impressive deals on some of the brands’ latest offerings, but there’s a good chance that we might see some excellent promotions spring up during Amazon’s Prime Day sales event. So if you’re not in need of one now, then we recommend waiting just a little bit longer to see what kinds of deals might pop up starting on July 16.

When is Prime Day?

The Prime Day shopping event for 2024 will take place on July 16 and 17. While there will be deals at all hours, the event is set to start at 12:01AM PDT. So if you’re thinking about grabbing something ASAP, you might want to set your alarm clocks early. But for the rest, you can just check back on the site to see what kinds of deals emerge, and try your best to grab the things you need or want if the prices are to your liking.

How many Prime Day events are there?

Those that have been keeping tabs on Prime Day events will notice that the brand has expanded its event schedule, with a variety of Prime Day events throughout the year, with the most recent being the Prime Big Deal Days. For the most part, the summer event is the largest one it holds, which means, it’s the best time to shop and get some serious deals.

Do you need to be a Prime member to take advantage of Prime Day deals?

Yes, this is one of the requirements in order to take advantage of all the special deals that will arrive for the event. If you aren’t an Amazon Prime member, you won’t see special pricing for items, which means you won’t get the deepest savings during the event.

The good thing is that if you’ve never tried Amazon Prime, now’s going to be the perfect time to give it a whirl, as the brand offers a free 30-day trial for first-time users. Previous Amazon Prime members may even be able to pick up a highly limited time trial for a discounted price. Regardless, if you see something you want, you’ll need to be signed up to take advantage of all the sweet deals.

Amazon Prime

Amazon Prime

Amazon Prime has long since evolved from the days when it merely offered free two-day shipping and a burgeoning library of original shows. Prime now includes a music service, one of the most robust TV show and movie streaming services on the market, unique deals for its members — like free Twitch subscriptions and exclusive Whole Foods discounts — plus access to exclusive deals, especially on Amazon’s unofficial-official holidays, like the upcoming Prime Big Deal Days.
